More sea, less refuse: Sustainability meets efficiency at Seafood Expo Global

MULTIVAC at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona (Hall 3, Stand DD601)

05.03.2025

Wolfertschwenden, 5 March 2025 – MULTIVAC's presence at this year's Seafood Expo Global (6 – 8 May) is heavily influenced by packaging solutions, which focus on production efficiency as well as sustainability. The company will be showing packaging and handling solutions, which improve the shelf life of fish and seafood, and which also provide an attractive presentation of the product at the point of sale. In addition to a packaging solution for producing high-quality vacuum skin packs, MULTIVAC will also be demonstrating, how delicate fish products in particular can be packed securely and with great care.

With its TX 620 traysealer MULTIVAC offers a compact and cost-effective response to the rising costs and increasing demands on the seafood sector. The machine's small space requirement ensures that the available room is used to the optimum, and this allows the traysealer to be integrated seamlessly into a wide range of production environments – and if needed, also in a two-track version for even greater efficiency. Particular emphasis has been placed on sustainability: The durable construction minimises the use of resources, and it is possible to dispense completely with compressed air or cooling water depending on the type of use. The machine can run a wide range of tray materials – from all types of plastics to paper fibre-based alternatives. The packaging machine will be complemented by a L 310 conveyor belt labeller, which provides a high-quality pack presentation thanks to an attractive FullWRAP label.

Also to be exhibited in Barcelona is the compact R 105 MF thermoforming packaging machine, which is designed to produce high quality MultiFreshTM vacuum skin packs. One of the main features of the R 105 MF as a stand-alone solution is its minimal space requirement, and this makes it particularly attractive to small businesses, as well as companies that require a high degree of production flexibility. The MultiFresh™ process ensures that perfect packaging results are achieved, and that attractive and secure vacuum skin packs are produced, even if the products have sharp or hard features such as bones or shells, or if there is a high level of product protrusion above the tray.

At the trade fair MULTIVAC will also be demonstrating its expertise in the automated processing of delicate fish products with the H 224 handling module. This solution was specially developed for the safe, hygienic and gentle handling of fish products – and this will be demonstrated at the trade fair using salmon portions. Thanks to the precise delta kinematics, the portions can be picked up very carefully and placed precisely into the trays.
