What do you do at MULTIVAC? Describe your role...
I am responsible for all things labelling and web printing. This includes new product launches, supporting the Regional Sales and Key Account teams with enquiries and projects, working with technical and MUMI when we have machine issues. I then also support the projects team, liaise with MUMI regarding new and ongoing enquiries. I help monitor the changes in the UK labelling market to feebback to MUMI so they consider designing new equipment for areas where we have short falls.
What does your day to day look like?
Days can be varied, however they all normally start with checking through new emails whilst eating breakfast. Then I’d usually be jumping on Teams calls or speaking with a factory. I also visit customers which is always great, especially when you get the opportunity to walk the factory floor and find new opportunities to improve their production lines.
How long have you worked at MULTIVAC in your role? Have you had any other roles at MULTIVAC?
Wow! This one shocked me – our system says that I have worked here for 28 yrs and 8 months!!
So, we heard you’ll be joining us for our 40th Anniversary event in October. What will you be showing in the way of Labelling?
We will have quite a range of labellers to show at our 40th anniversary event. From standard top and bottom conveyor machines, to the new CL1 series integrated into the R3 thermoformer. We will have the latest lowered version of the DP230 and the TopWrap produce lidding labeller. So lots to come and see!
What do you like about working at MULTIVAC? What’s your favourite part of your job?
First off, its the team of people that I work with and secondly, the problem solving coupled with sheer quality of the kit that MUMI manufacture.
What are you generally working on at the moment which you are happy to share?
Applications always vary - 2 projects sping to mind. One for a L label on the base of a pack and the other to integrating a labelling into a vertical bagging machine for a cheese customer.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love walking our 4 dogs in the countryside at weekends with my wife, Claire, and working out in the gym.
If you weren’t in the profession you are now, what else would you have liked to have been and why?
I would have like to be in the design industry having studied art and design at college. It was so long ago, and at the time, designing was moving from pen and paper to computers.
Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...
I used to play guitar in a covers band!
