This year, we’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.
It’s our April installment of MeetMULTIVAC...
Rebecca Cary, HR Business Partner - HR
Tell us more about your role!
I look after all of the HR operational activities at MULTIVAC UK, including things like payroll, recruitment, and HR administration. I also work on any of our new and exciting HR projects. I’ve been working for MULTIVAC for just over 5 years now. I started as a HR Advisor and was promoted to Business Partner after 11 months.
Most recently, I have been working on the onboarding of a new HR system and figuring out how we can map our existing processes into the new system to help promote self-service for our managers and other employees.
What does your day to day look like?
My day to day is very varied, but typically it includes supporting managers with challenges in their teams, answering employee queries and running interviews.
The variety of different activities and projects that I get involved in is great. I absolutely love working with people to resolve issues, and I also really enjoy developing people and watching them succeed.
What’s new in your department recently? Is there anything exciting happening?
At the moment, we’re working on some really interesting project work focusing on Employee Engagement. We’ve created working groups to help generate solutions to some areas that our employees have identified for improvements at MULTIVAC, so I’m facilitating and supporting these groups to bring their ideas to life, and launch them to the business!
We’ve also recently hired a couple of new people into the team so I’m really excited about the things that we’ll be able to achieve as a HR team this year!
What’s the biggest misconception people have about working in HR?
Wherever you work there is always a bit of ‘oooh can’t say that, because HR are here‘ but I can safely say that after working in a HR role for 9 years, there is not a lot that surprises me anymore! We’re all human!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, and going to the gym! Very rock ‘n‘ roll me!
What did you want to be when you grew up when you were younger?
I wanted to be a beauty therapist, but probably a good thing for everyone that I didn’t pursue that line of work!
Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...
I’m currently studying for my Post Graduate Diploma in HR alongside work and being a Mum to a 20 month old!
